INDIVIDUAL Coaching
HOW WE WORK TOGETHER
I offer individual coaching for girls and gender diverse youth in high school, post secondary and early adulthood. Most of my clients are exploring what’s next for them while navigating internal and external roadblocks.
While my speciality is working with clients in post-secondary or early career stages (late teens and 20-somethings), my clients have ranged in age from 15-35 - any age is welcome if it’s the right fit.
I always start with a consult call (first with the parent, then with the client) to make sure we’re a good fit. In a productive coaching engagement, the parent sees the value and so does the young person.

WHAT TO EXPECT
The Rize Girl Difference
Coaching will not only help you reach your goals, it will improve your self-esteem, self-awareness, mental health and overall well-being. Often, clients come to me feeling lost or ovewhelmed, needing a container of support where they can process and plan a path forward.
Together, we discuss your ideal future to build motivation, then set self-directed goals to help you move towards desired outcomes. I’ll help you dig deep and tap into your authenticity as we identify your interests, values, purpose, and passions, then set and pursue compatible goals.
You’ll identify what you want, why you want it, and how to begin working toward the outcomes you seek. I will use evidence-based tools and strategies to help you get there.
My coaching services are evidence-based, trauma-informed, and include cultural awareness, sensitivity, and social responsibility.
ASSESSING FIT
Is coaching or therapy more appropriate?
The main difference between therapy and coaching is that therapists diagnose and treat mental health disorders; coaches do not. Therapists work to bring dysfunctional clients to a level of functioning, whereas coaches bring functioning clients into thriving. Counselling is typically focused on the past while coaching is focused on future oriented actionable steps. Therapy is the right fit for addressing trauma and diagnosable mental health concerns; coaching works for taking action to improve in areas where things are not as great as we might hope.
What packages and services do you offer?
Individual coaching can be flexible (organic coaching) or more structured (focused coaching):
Organic coaching, where clients and I start from scratch, discovering where they’re content in life and where they’d like things to be different. Once we have clarity on the areas in which they’d like to create change, we figure out what’s blocking them from achieving those goals. From there, we explore who they are–their values, strengths, personality –and use that information to build a personalized road map for getting through the blocks and reaching their vision of success.
Focused exploration - sessions targeting issues that young people frequently struggle with, including:
University & Career Planning: Many young adults feel they’re at a crossroads without a map. We determine what’s most important for the client, on both the macro and micro level, as they explore education and career options, in alignment with their own personal strengths and values, and create their own roadmap to move towards their goals.
Academic Success: After clarifying the student’s academic goals and why those goals are personally meaningful, we do a deep dive on what’s working, what’s not working, and why. Drawing from the student’s own strengths and resources, we use evidence-based strategies to create, implement and finesse a personalized plan for success.
Stress & Anxiety Reduction: Research shows that adolescent anxiety rates are higher than they’ve ever been. This focus area is for young people who are interested in exploring, learning, and putting new tools into practice. We explore their own thoughts and perceptions, evaluating them for current validity, then use proven tools for calming anxiety.
Social Connections: Developmentally, adolescents and young adults are wired for focus on and connection with peers. When friendships are rocky and connecting is difficult, it can be a crushing experience. We explore what they want and need in relationships, how they’re currently operating, what’s working, and what isn’t. Drawing from various resources, we create and execute a plan for building social connection and capital.
Self Exploration & Self Knowledge: For the client who wants to understand who they are, what they want, what their purpose is, what their passion is, their gifts, their weaknesses, and much more, we’ll use assessments and organic coaching tools to build a sturdy toolbox of self-understanding and internal and external resources.
